Twitter used Acquia, commercial solutions provider for open software Drupal, in order to help create a website for Twitter developers.

Tom Erickson, Acquia's CEO said: “We are proud to be working with Twitter on this important effort.

“It demonstrates Acquia's ability to deliver enterprise-scale applications, and reinforces that Drupal is truly a best-of-breed platform for community websites.”

The new website, dev.twitter.com, launched today and provides information, tools, assistance, and support for the 750,000 developers across the Twitter ecosystem. It contains documents, tutorials, APIs, blogs and forums.

Ryan Sarver, Twitter's director of platform, said: “Twitter has always been deeply supportive of open source efforts like Drupal.

“We made the decision to go with Acquia and Drupal for our new dev.twitter.com site because of the customisation and flexibility.”
