Creative Concern has designed the marketing materials for new exhibition 'Warhol and the Diva' running at the Lowry in Salford.

The Manchester agency was given the challenge of designing flyers, posters and outdoor banners to promote the exhibition of some of Warhol's most iconic portraits.

The Manchester agency's creative director, Rob Sanderson, said: "Andy Warhol was one of the greatest publicists of the 20th Century and his influence is ever apparent.

“We were delighted to be part of this exhibition, but we knew we had to set clear boundaries from the start. Warhol was a master of image and images. His work has been referenced so often that it is often hard to discern the authentic from the pastiche. We didn't want to fall into the traps of mere imitation but create something that taps into the spirit of his work and the themes of the show.”

Creative Concern referenced some of the processes Warhol used by recreating its logo by hand then applying layers of colour to create the finished result.

The exhibition runs until September and features some of Warhol's most familiar portraits of stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Debbie Harry and Mick Jagger.

There are also original paintings and screenprints, a selection of Polaroids and a series of rarely seen photographs by Christopher Makos, which show Warhol exploring his inner Diva through wigs and make-up.
