As was widely speculated in recent days, Facebook is to add a Skype video calling feature to its service offering.

In a bid to improve its messaging system, Facebook is to introduce Video Calling, group chat and a new design which will include a new chat bar added to the side of the screen.

The bar will allow users to find friends, with a list that will show them who they want to talk to – whether they are online or not.

The group chat feature will allow conversations to be had with more than one person at once, while Skype Video calling will see video calling directly added into Facebook chat.

The video calling feature will be introduced over the next few weeks the company has said.
