Tindle Newspapers has announced the launch of a new title for South Wales, the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Observer.

According to the Press Gazette, the weekly paid-for newspaper will be published by the Tenby Observer, part of the Tindle Newspaper Group.

The newspaper’s launch follows high demand in the region, after local residents had been sending their news for publication in the Tenby Observer, which lies about ten miles away from Pembroke.

Adamson said: “We are delighted that we are now able to offer the people of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock a new outlet for their news, and that we can provide a new way for businesses of the two towns to reach local potential customers. During these tough economic times, it is ever more important for local people to be informed about local issues, and we are happy to be part of a service which provides that.

The news comes following an announcement by company founder Sir Ray Tindle that the company's London titles had lost approximately £1 million over the last two years.

"In this recession revenue has fallen badly in London. Naturally profit has fallen badly as well. Our newspapers have collectively lost well over £1,000,000 in the capital over two years," he said.
