The BBC has denied reports that it will prevent its staff and guest talent from using Twitter, despite them revealing some of the corporation's secrets on the site.

Reports were spreading yesterday that the corporation would look to insert a social networking ban upon its staff and anyone working for it, preventing them from revealing sensitive information about their productions on Twitter, Facebook or any other platform.

The BBC moved to deny these claims last night with a statement which said: "The BBC is not banning the use of Twitter by talent or writers.”

The statement continued: “The BBC has clear guidelines in place for both the personal and professional use of social media, and we encourage staff, writers and talent to use social media, provided it does not break any confidentiality agreements."
