The Channel 4 news has appointed Morland Sanders to the role of North of England correspondent as part of the changes made to the team.

According to Broadcast, Sanders who has worked on Radio 4 and ITV Tonight, will lead the unit from Manchester and will cover the news from that region. He replaces Nick Martin in this role.

The announcement follows various changes on the broadcast in May, with Matt Frei and Jackie Long being hired as Washington correspondent and social affairs editor respectively.

It also follows the news last week that Channel 4 will hire a weatherperson for the first time.
