Drinks company macb ends sponsor deal with Hearts
Flavoured water company macb has ended its sponsorship deal with Hearts following the football club saying it would not sack Craig Thomson.
The drinks company said that they had to withdraw the £5,000 sponsorship to the Edinburgh club because they have ‘strong family values’ after it was announced that Thomson, who has been convicted of grooming two young girls on the internet, will not be fired.
A spokesperson for macb said: "Along with countless others, fans and co-sponsors alike, we are extremely disappointed with the club's handling of this situation and as a result can no longer continue our support."
The player has been convicted and fined £4,000 for indecent and lewd behaviour to two girls, aged 12 and 14, over the internet.
