The Olympic ticketing application website is facing further problems after crashing during second round applications.

The site has crashed during the second round of tickets being made available, despite promises by organisers that the website would cope.

This morning applications for the extra 600,000 tickets to events such as Basketball and Football opened, with some applicants saying that they initially were successful, while others found the system to be ‘slow’ with the website beginning to deliver a “Sorry, we cannot process your request” message an hour after the process opened.

1.7million tickets to football events are also available.

It is understood that first customers recieved emails stating that their applications were being processed, although as was found with the first round of applications, this does not guarantee that applicants have been successful.

Some applicants, according to the BBC, are proving to be successful after continuously trying to process their orders.

Earlier this week, organisers promised that the system would be able to cope with demand, with 1.2m people expected to apply for remaining tickets to next year’s London Olympics, this morning.

Applications will continues to be accepted and processed until 3 July.
