STV has announced that daily 5pm live TV show The Hour will move to a weekly primetime slot in autumn.

The show’s set will be revamped as part of the move, with the presenting team not yet confirmed, although it has been suggested that there will be new hosts and features as well as online events.

Elizabeth Partyka, deputy director of channels, at STV, said: “The Hour has gone from strength to strength since its launch two years ago, and has established itself as one of the most popular daytime television shows in Scotland.

“Moving to a weekly primetime slot is a fantastic achievement for the show and a natural evolution of The Hour brand, and I am thrilled about the opportunity to bring the show to a new and broader audience.”

Glasgow based STV have also announced that a spin-off feature series from The Hour will begin next year, including a new travel series, although further details are not yet available.

In June, The Hour has welcomed a series of weekly guest presenters to the studio along with regular presenter Michelle McManus.

This week’s co-host is actor and writer Tony Roper, who follows star interior designer John Amabile, actor Joe McGann and comedian and actor Sanjeev Kohli.

The show will take a break on July 22.
