Nokia N9 phone looks to be gap-filler before launch of Windows phone
The N9 smartphone by Nokia, built using MeeGo, may not be as much of a success as the Finnish company hoped.
The full touch-screen handset is comparable to an iPhone, but with a new Nokia smartphone on the horizon – perhaps later this year – there is a large chance that the N9 will not reach the sale levels of other smartphones.
Nokia are currently working with Microsoft to create the Nokia Windows phone, having decided against creating another phone with MeeGo.
Ben Woods, analyst at CCS Insight said: “Had this launched last year, it could have given Nokia a much needed boost, but this just feels too late now.
“It is difficult to see what operators will stock this device in Europe. They’ll just wait for the Windows Phone to come out.”
This year, Samsung and Apple expected to take over from Nokia as the best in the smartphone sector for first time in 14 years.
