Local media is apparently the best route for national government advertising to be noticed in Scotland, according to new research.

According to new research conducted by the Newspaper Society, three quarters of people (71%) in Scotland take more notice of national government advertising if it appears in local media.

“Local media is the best place for national government advertising and public information because people actively seek out the advertising in local media,” commented Robert Ray, marketing director for the Newspaper Society.

The Loving Local research for the whole of the UK was released last week, aiming to highlight the importance of local community in Britain and how people can be integrated into it through different media channels.

Today the findings for Scotland have been released, where it was also found that respondents were more conscious of buying from a company which was more involved within its community thank across the rest of Britain, with 91% saying that that would buy from companies that gave back to their community.

The study was conducted by Crowd DNA.
