The Scottish Creative Awards, which incorporates the Scottish Advertising Awards – as well as The Dagger trophies – opens doors to digital, design, PR as well as ad agencies.

The new event is designed to reflect the changing face of the industry – which has seen greater integration in terms of the disciplines now offered by agencies.

As a result the event will now celebrate all facets of the marketing communications mix including advertising, design, digital and strategy. This will open up the event to digital, design and PR consultancies as well as advertising agencies. However, the strand that will draw the event into one is creativity.

“This is still very much a creative awards show,” said events managing director Lynn Lester, “Other schemes already do a superb job in terms of recognising the likes of effectiveness. This award is primarily about celebrating great ideas.

“It will also be an opportunity to showcase what the Scottish marketing communications scene as a whole can offer clients.”

For the very first time the event will have two juries. One jury will review creative work and already includes Gerry Human; Executive Creative Director of Ogilvy & Mather, Ed Robinson; Creative Director of Publicis, Mike Paisley; Design Director of The Partners, Tony Foggett; CEO of Code Computerlove and Chris Hassell; Creative Director, Ralph & Co.

A second panel will judge work that is submitted in the form of written papers. The Creative Strategy Panel will include Michael Johnson; Group Brand Director of Thomas Cook and Chris Witte; Marketing Director of Kingspan.

And what will award winners receive to mark their success? “The Dagger will remain,” says Lester, “After all this event, which is known in some quarters as The Daggers, is all about cut through thinking.”

The deadline for entry is Friday July 29. Further information can be found at www.scottishcreativeawards.com. You can follow the event on Twitter at @ScotCreativeAwards
