Upstream hires ex-Sony Ericsson head for sales role

Upstream, the global mobile marketing technology and solutions provider, has appointed former Sony Ericsson head of global accounts Vu Nguyen as its new senior vice president, of global sales.

Nguyen will be responsible for global business development and accelerating the adoption of Upstream’s mobile marketing technology platform by brands and operators.

Nguyen helped win the first 3G mobile network contract in North America for Ericsson and built two new business areas (Global Operators and Enterprise) for Sony Ericsson.

Prior to Upstream, Nguyen was executive vice president and head of global sales for Telmap, the market leader in EMEA for white-labelled location-based solutions and services for mobile operators, where he managed sales operations in EMEA, the Americas and Asia-Pacific.

His detailed knowledge of the mobile industry will be a key asset in growing our North American presence and overseeing all sales efforts, while managing our global footprint.”

Before his role at Telmap, Nguyen held executive management roles at Research in Motion as head of the Vodafone global business unit, and at Sony Ericsson as head of global accounts and enterprise business driving new business development with the company’s six largest global operator customers: Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, Telefonica, Telecom Italia and Hutchison.
