Doncaster Rovers mascot’s underwear prank provides PR gift
Doncaster Rovers mascot has been reinstated by the club after posing in her underwear alongside the ‘Donny Dog’ costume.
Tracy Chandler had been dismissed from her unpaid role by club chairman John Ryan after posing in the Sunday Sport but has subsequently been reinstated.
Initially Ryan took a dim view of the affair, noting that: “The Sunday Sport and a mascot designed for children is not an ideal mix.
"We were just a bit concerned about the sexualisation of young children, it's a tricky area these days, we're putting it right, maybe it was a mistake.”
Recanting his decision however Ryan now admits the affair was a “storm in a teacup”, but not before the saga was given saturation coverage everywhere from the Doncaster Free Press to BBC News.
