NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has launched a new free condoms advertising campaign created by Freight Design.

The ads bear the message 'Ready to Roll' and aim to raise awareness of the region's Condom Distribution Scheme, which should make it easier for people to get hold of protection.

“At the heart of successful public sexual health advertising are clear, non-judgemental and unambiguous messages,” said Mike Brooke, marketing manager at Glasgow-based Freight. “It’s vital to communicate without alienating and sexual health is undoubtedly a sensitive area.

“We focused on bold branding and a simple headline that works for native English speakers and for those with English as a second language.”

The ads are running on outdoor six and four sheet posters, bus interiors, bar media and online.

“We’ve used a mix of city centre outdoor media and highly tactical hand to hand distribution both in the city centre and further afield, to ensure maximum coverage," said Brooke. "Online is also a key part of the campaign with Facebook and dating sites being targeted.”

Sarah Graham, free condoms manager at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, added: "We specified a marketing plan that would reach across our geographically and socially diverse health board area. With a limited budget this was not an easy task but Freight developed some ingenious marketing options which offered us great value for money.”
