A specially created augmented reality app has been developed for Manchester City FC to offer its fans the chance to lift the FA Cup following the club’s success in the knockout tournament.

The app will enable fans to print off the FA cub emblem from its website and it up in front of their webcams to recreate their club’s moment of victory at Wembley earlier this month.

Ian Cafferky, chief brand and commercial officer for City, said, “This kind of digital technology is only the beginning of what we have in store for fans next season. Our new Membership cards lets us give fans great Augmented Reality features, and will allow fans to interact with the Club like never before.

“Supporting City should be fun, that’s why we have enabled our fans to share their pictures on Facebook with other Blues from around the world,” he added.

Richard Ayers, head of digital at the club added: “We didn't want to jinx anything by commissioning the app before the cup final, so we're delighted that we've pulled this project together in record time. Innovation is important to us, and we look forward to delivering more later this year”

The app was created by digital production company Specialmoves.
