Birmingham City University has expanded its online division with the appointment of an online marketing manager and social media officer.

The appointment of Sharon Smart as web marketing manager sees her join from The Amateur Swimming Association where she was public relation manager, while Saulo Menezes de Oliveira has taken the role of social media officer, joining from Gateway Family Services where he was marketing and communications officer.

In her new role, Smart will be tasked with raising the profile of the university regionally, nationally and internationally through online marketing, while Menezes de Oliveira will oversee the social media communications for the higher education institution.
