Social media the most popular form of entertainment, study reveals
Social media has been found to be the only Entertainment platform that retains a steady level of high value entertainment in the UK (31%) and US (37%) research has found.
According to research by Edelman, the value consumers get from the entertainment industry has declined by 68%, with only 17% of respondents saying that the felt they received ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’ value, although almost a third did rate the entertainment value of social media very highly.
The study also found that 59% of people in the UK and 53% in the US spent more time on their laptops in the last year, while 49% of people in the UK and 52% in the US said that they spent more time on their mobile phones.
It was also found that over half of respondents (52%) would like to use a computer which would offer entertainment access, while nearly a third (30%) wanted to be able to access content on their mobile phones.
Also revealed was that one 4% of UK consumers and 3% of US consumers were positive about paywall services and that 45% of people in the IK and 57% in the US thought of social networking sites as entertainment.
