UTV Media’s sports media company UTV Pitch has appointed TigerSpike to develop its new apps for iPhones and iPads.

TigerSpike will be releasing a brand new tablet app for Sport magazine, the second largest men’s magazine in the UK, as well as updating the current iPhone app for talkSPORT, the UK’s only national commercial speech radio station.

TigerSpike will work with UTV Pitch on strategy, user experience, design and development, and the first launches are planned for August.

talkSPORT head of digital Ben Martin commented: “We are very excited about working with TigerSpike on the development of new and updated products for talkSPORT and Sport magazine. TigerSpike has a proven track record in innovation through new publishing technology, so it’s an exciting time to develop new and engaging products for our audiences.”

Nic Newman, EMEA managing director and head of strategy at TigerSpike, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to be working with UTV Pitch, helping it to expand its digital applications across the talkSPORT and Sport magazine brands. We’re going to be spending the next few months getting underneath UTV’s skin to understand what it is that their listeners and readers want, so that we can bring the best content into two easy to navigate apps. Central to our strategy is creating an amazing user interface and user experience that will feel fantastic to use.”
