The media is now free to report that Ryan Giggs has been revealed as the Premier League footballer behind the Super Injunction, after an MP named him in the House of Commons

The media is now reporting that the Manchester United footballer is the one who has prevented the press from revealing he was the footballer, after his name was revealed by Liberal Democrat John Hemming in the House of Commons, while discussing the identity of the protected footballer.

“With about 75,000 people having named Ryan Giggs on Twitter it’s obviously impractical to imprison them all,” Hemming said.

Within minutes, The Guardian and Sky News were reporting the footballer's identity on their websites.

During the session it was announced that a Committee would also be set up to review privacy laws and Super Injunctions.

Just moments before the hearing went into session, The Sun had failed in a bid to overturn the super Injunction by the footballer at the High Court.

Giggs announced plans to sue Twitter on Friday to force them to reveal the identities of those who had breached the order on the micro-blogging site.
