Earlier this month Scottish Illustrator Johanna Basford was the star of a live video project which saw the artist illustrate a Smart Car with suggestions made through Twitter.

Mercedes Benz commissioned her to turn one of its electric cars into a work of art. Members of the Twitterverse were able to tweet image suggestions to her using the brief 'What will the future look like?'.

Using the car as her canvass, Basford turned the hundreds of suggestions into a single artwork. This was viewed by thousands via the live stream.

Basford, who has built her reputation through building artworks based on 'crowd-sourced' Twitter techniques said: “I love these interactive illustrations! It's so cool to see all the amazing (and usually pretty bizarre) suggestions tweets and to work for what is fundamentally a crowd-sourced creative director.

“I have to admit that I'm always a bit scared ahead of one of these live drawing events, but the buzz and energy of working outside the studio (where everyone can see you make mistakes!) and without any predetermined plan is pretty darn cool.”
