Two Manchester creatives have started a support group to help budding talent break into the North West advertising industry.

Tom Cleeland and Joy Ayles have formed Creative Scamps to "bridge the gap between student debt and agency life".

Cleeland, who also runs The Cool Commentator site and works for Reading Room in Manchester, said: "Creative Scamps is an open forum for anyone with a passion for advertising and marketing, and the drive to succeed, to share their thoughts and ideas and make a difference.

"As a young creative studying in the North West I found a distinct lack of support for students and graduates looking to get into the industry in the North West. No one really seemed to care, so I have harboured an ambition to create that bubble of support for some time now."

Creative Scamps has launched on Twitter (@CreativeScamps) and Facebook as it looks to build a following of like-minded students, graduates and working professionals who want to learn from one another.

Its founders have hopes for meet-ups, events and competitions once the next university year gets underway, and plans are afoot for an informal meet-up during the summer months.

Ayles, who also founded The Online Intern project, said: "Collaboration in this digital landscape is imperative and we're here to get everyone together, from planners and art directors, to developers and producers. We want to share what the industry knows with students and young creative talent who want to know more."
