Trinity Mirror reports 10% decline in advertising revenue

Newspaper group Trinity Mirror has reported a 10% fall in advertising revenue for the first part of the year.

An interim management statement for 2011 until 1 May has shown a decline in its advertising revenue, with public sector advertising revenue down by 47% as a result of Government spending cuts.

Despite this the company saw a rise in advertising revenue by 1% with sales from the Manchester Evening News and other GMG titles, although circulation revenue fell by 3% while other revenue increased by 7%. But newspaper The Daily Mirror saw its total income drop by 6%

Advertising revenue increased by 1%, circulation revenue falling by 3% and other revenue increasing by 7%

The company’s net debt also increased from £266m at the beginning of January to £286m on 1 May.

Yesterday Johnston Press also reported a decline in advertising with a fall of 10.6%.
