The Metropolitan Police force is reported to have acquired software which is able to map the movements of suspects.

According to The Guardian, police has bought Geotime, a security programme which show the movements and communications of an individual with other people on a three dimensional graphic.

Apparently the software can collate information gathered from social networking sites, satellite navigation equipment, mobile phone, financial transactions and IP network logs.

The paper reports that police have confirmed that they have bought the equipment and have not ruled out using it to investigate public order disturbances.
