Wembley Stadium is launching a new campaign to promote its summer sport and music line-up and to celebrate some of the memorable events it has hosted down the years.

Created by the Football Association in association with agencies Dare and M&C Saatchi, the campaign aims to "reinforce Wembley's position as the UK's ultimate live football, sport and music venue".

It is being launched as Wembley prepares to host football finals including the Champions League showpiece and a record eight-night Take That tour.

Radio ads feature sporting stars Stuart Pearce and Martin Offiah and the Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood reminiscing about their Wembley experiences.

A microsite has been launched on the newly-relaunched Wembley website encouraging the public to vote for the greatest event in the stadium's history - choosing between landmarks such as the 1966 World Cup final and Live Aid.

Adrian Wells, the FA's head of marketing, said: "The launch of the ‘Wembley’s Greatest Event’ campaign, is another key step in the development of Wembley into a globally iconic brand.

"In just six months, we have delivered a complete re-brand, launched the new wembleystadium.com site, developed social media communities and now launched an interactive consumer campaign."
