Phone-hacking: Police tell Rooney he may be a victim
Wayne Rooney is reportedly considering legal action against the News of the World after Scotland Yard detectives warned him his mobile may have been hacked.
The Manchester United and England forward revealed the police visit on his new Twitter account.
The striker was shown pages from the notebook of Glenn Mulcaire, the private investigator at the heart of the phone-hacking scandal. The Guardian reports that he may sue the tabloid.
Rooney wrote: "Scotland Yard detectives came to see me earlier and showed me some documents, looks like a newspaper have hacked into my phone. #bigsurprise."
The Metropolitan Police is contacting a number of high-profile individuals to tell them that they may have been targeted by Mulcaire.
