The Roses Student Creativity Awards look to unearth the outstanding creative talent coming through colleges and universities throughout the UK.

This year the scheme received hundreds of entries from students across England and Scotland, responding to briefs set by the agencies.12 agencies from across the UK – Like a River; Glorious Creative; Realise; Love Creative; The Chase; Elmwood; Dinosaur; 999 Design; The Leith Agency; Design by Music; Viv-id; Tayburn – set 12 very different briefs for the students to work on this year, with the 12 winning students then awarded a placement with the agency who set the brief.

The judging – with a panel consisting of those agencies that submitted briefs – and event both took place in Manchester’s Hive, with the exhibition of the winning and commended work shown on the same night.

Following the judging session, three of the student entries – Christopher Taylor, Lincoln School of Art & Design; Gemma Brownhill, Staffordshire University; Cat Collins, University of Gloucestershire – have now been put forward to compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze at the Roses Advertising Awards on 5 May.

As always, we would like to thank Rob Taylor and Like A River for organising all of the briefs and judges and Julian Tagoe and Jo Greenhalgh at the University of Salford for supporting the awards and the exhibition.

Here we take a look at a selection of the work that won for its brief. We have included the briefs and the student rationale (when supplied). To see the rest of the briefs and more work, visit http://bit.ly/cdv9F1
