Jane Shirley and John Rowley have been appointed as joint managing directors of marketing group Cello.

Shirley, CEO of Cello Research, will remain as joint group managing director of pharmaceutical business Insight Research Group alongside Nicola Cowland.

As part of her new role, she will be charged with taking responsibility for the group’s staff development initiative Cello Academy, as well as the development of the Future Partnership programme.

Meanwhile Rowley is currently chief executive of Tangible communications, the communications division of Cello and former CEO of The Leith Agency.

Mark Scott, chief executive of Cello, commented: “I wish to congratulate Jane and John on their new roles. They will work closely together to achieve closer integration of our research and communications capabilities to reinforce our competitive advantage in the healthcare sector.

He added that they will also focus on raising margins in other client sectors.

It is also understood that Cello is set to drop the Tangible Group title as part of a restructure of the business, but the name of Tangible, the data agency within the business, will be retained.
