Manchester and London digital agency Lakestar Media has announced that its turnover is up by 84%.

In a statement it said sales jumped from £2.6m to £4.6m in the 12 months to 31 December last year.

During 2010 it recruited 20 new staff in search engine optimisation, paid search, display and affiliate marketing roles, taking its total head count to 40.

Lakestar is run by former bigmouthmedia group commercial officer Neil McKay and said its growth followed new business wins with clients such as Journeys of Distinction, The Harley Medical Group and Halfords.

McKay said: "During year three we have deliberately set about making senior and experienced appointments, helping us to deliver measurable results that positively impact our clients’ bottom line."

The company said it would be targeting annual revenues of £6m by the end of this year.
