The relaunch of a shared recruitment portal for Scotland’s 32 local authorities has taken place following a redesign by Spider Online.

The Glasgow digital agency was commissioned by COSLA to improve the site navigation, users perception and also determine the best moth of driving relevant traffic to the site.

User experience agency Bunnyfoot worked with Spider to monitor how users think, behave and interact with the site to create the necessary design alterations.

Douglas Shirlaw, digital projects director for COSLA commented: "When the site launched in June 2008, our priority was to engage with councils to make use of the applicant tracking system; with the site now embedded throughout Scottish local government a refreshed design, with the appropriate usability testing, was our priority and we are all very happy with the results."

The new site will also include vacancies for the Scottish Fire Service and is expected to process around 300,000 applications every year in order to compete with recruitment sites such as S1jobs.com, jobs.stv and totaljobs.
