An app designed to help golfers practice their putting has been launched by PGA golfer Steve McGuinness and developed by Tecmark.

The north west app development agency has launched Puttluck which uses Wii-style real putting stroke controls to allow users to practice on their iPhone while not on the course.

In order to replicate the putting experience, the app uses a physics engine alongside the iPhone’s built-in gyroscope, created for professional golfer Steve McGuinness.

Sponsoring the app is golf accessories supplier Black Widow.

Launching today (7 April) the app also includes competitions, real prizes and a global leaderboard.

Steve McGuinness commented: “As a PGA professional golfer I was keen to see what golf apps were out there. When I looked into it I realised there was nothing available that had an interactive or Wii-style feel.”

He continued: “As a golf pro, I love teaching people of all ages and abilities. The great thing about the app is that it should appeal to advanced users as well as those who are new to the sport or people who fancy their chances in the Puttluck competitions, to win £500 worth of Black Widow goodies.”

Puttluck will initially only be available to download for iPhone for .50p, although Android and other Smartphone versions are currently being developed.
