BDO LLP expected to be named as Sport Media Group administrator
Having entered administration last week, newspaper publisher Sport Media Group is expected to appoint BDO LLP as it looks to sell the business.
According to The Guardian, BDO is close to being appointed following crisis talks between Sports Media Group, which prints The Daily Sport and The Sunday Sport, with Royal Bank of Scotland, as it seeks a buyer for its newspapers, bought at the end of 2007 for £50 million.
The company was saved two years ago from closure by former owner David Sullivan, and recently secured new funding until March 2013.
Now, should no owner be found, it will mark the first closure of a UK national newspaper since the closure of Today in 1995.
