Talks between Express Newspapers and Daily Mail General Trust could see papers merge
Informal talks have been opened between The Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT) over buying the titles owned by Express Newspapers.
Media mogul Richard Desmond has apparently entered into talked to sell on titles such as Express on Sunday, having previously ordered a review of the group’s portfolio by Goldman Sachs.
A blog written by Sky News City editor Mark Kleinman, which followed initial reports by The Sunday Times yesterday, claims that Desmond could begin negotiations with Lord Rothermere, chairman of DMGT to merge the titles of both companies.
However Kleinman added: "To be clear, Desmond may yet choose not to sell his newspapers."
