The old boss Larry Page returns as CEO at Google today. "It was always going to happen," says the man who invented the phrase, 'Don't be Evil'.

"The notion that something being impossible doesn't really bother you, is central to a lot of Google's big projects," said Buchheit, who created Gmail before leaving the company in 2006.

Craig Silverstein, who joined Page and co-founder Sergey Brin as the startup's first employee in 1998 backed that view up, "The culture of Google is what Larry wants it to beā€¦taking on things that might be possible or might be impossible, but if they are possible, would have a really big impact."Page has a foresight that few people have, said Silverstein "He'll have an idea that seems really crazy," Silverstein said, "and there will be all this push-back, and he'll have none of it."As the Drum reported last week, Page is determined to get Google to act like a startup again, innovating faster than ever as it competes with Facebook and other social media companies.Google stock has dipped nearly 6 percent since it was announced on Jan. 20 that Page would replace Eric Schmidt as CEO. Buchheit always believed Page's return as CEO was inevitable, and that Page's determination to "swing for the fences" was critical to Google's identity."It was just a question of when it was going to happen," Buchheit told the San Jose Mercury News. "He was originally the CEO, and the only reason that changed was because the venture capitalists required it to change."
