New York move as James Murdoch prepares to take over from Rupert at News Corp
James, son of Rupert Murdoch moves one step closer to the top job and relocates from London to New York
James, who famously works at a standing desk, will continue to report to Chase Carey, NewsCorp.'s deputy chairman and president. As part of his new duties, James Murdoch will relocate from the company's UK offices to its New York headquarters, where both his father and Carey are based.
Last month it was revealed that News International had bought Elisabeth Murdoch's Shine film business - and that she was joining the main board.
The New York Times, in a lengthy article then commented that 38-year-old James “had risen higher in the company than his older siblings, Lachlan, 39, and Elisabeth, 42, who went to work for their father and later left acrimoniously."
The NYT added, "The perennial speculation is whether James Murdoch will one day run the News Corporation. "
