Liverpool Vision is to launch an initiative which will aim to better line the city’s creative sector with its higher education facilities.

Online recruitment tool ‘Creative Opportunities’ will attempt to match job opportunities with emerging talent, working alongside University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool Hope University, the Liverpool School of Performing Arts and Liverpool Community College and allow students to search for jobs, work placements and internships appropriate to their skills.

Professor Bill Chambers, Pro Vice Chancellor at Liverpool Hope University, explained that the site was devised between the higher education facilities in an effort to retain talent within the city to benefit its educational reputation, as well as it economy.

“My counterparts and I at the other higher education establishments saw immediately that this was an opportunity that would help continue and reinforce our students’ and graduates’ association with Liverpool, while linking us with a sector that is becoming increasingly important to the future prosperity of the city,” explained Chambers. Barry McGorry, senior development manager at Liverpool Vision, added: “An aim of Liverpool Vision is to attract more skilled people to the city, help even more graduates stay here and to improve and maintain Liverpool’s competitive edge as an inward investment destination with a good supply of skilled and qualified people that will in turn foster innovation and entrepreneurship.“

Creative Opportunities will be launched tomorrow (30 March) at Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.
