LinkedIn, the social networking site for professionals, has announced that it has now signed up 100m members worldwide – and is now adding a further member every second of every day.

In the UK the service now reaches 5m of the countries 60m population although this is still dwarfed by Facebook, which has now snared 30m Britons.

Keen to stimulate further growth however the service has introduced a personalised news service, LinkedIn Today, which aggregates news from around the web in accordance with user preferences.

This all forms part of a bid to boost traffic and ad revenues ahead of an expected stock market flotation.
