Tourism organisation VisitScotland, Scottish Development International and the Scottish Government are to establish a framework of US PR agencies.

The framework of four agencies will cover all PR activity in North America for a period of an initial 12 months, beginning 1 July 2011.

The budget for the framework is estimated to be between £532,500 and £1,630,000 for the first year in total.

The framework will be split into two Lots, the first for consumer focus PR, which has an option of a one-year-extension period, and a budget of between $267,500-$312,500 for the first year, with the total budget limit for the contract set at $530,000.

The second lot is for business-to-business PR activity in North America, and could also be extended by 12 months upon review, with the first year budget set at between $265,000 - $585,000 - the total budget for two years rising to as much as £1,100,000.

VisitScotland is understood to be overseeing the tender process.
