A putative tie up between Britain’s best selling tabloid, The Sun, and its leading adult leisure games company, Double G Communications Ltd, has ended in an acrimonious courtroom dispute.

Double G allege that the Sun reneged on a deal to market a “Page 3 Idol” board game after voicing concerns that the product “bordered on the pornographic,” the High Court heard.

They counter that such a claim is unfounded and that the game is merely “slightly risqué” in the bawdy ‘Carry On’ style.”

The adult entertainment firm claimed that it had generated significant demand for the product from retailers, including Ann Summers, before the plug was pulled and is seeking damages for the abrupt cancellation of its licensing deal.

The Sun branded game saw players answer questions about celebrity and glamour with the winner able to don a page 3 sash included in the box.

Participants could then upload pictures of themselves wearing the sash to be considered for a makeover and photoshoot for the paper.
