The former deputy editor of Central Television and deputy editor of the Edinburgh Evening News has teamed with a filmmaker to launch an online video agency.

Filmmaker Ben McNeil and Jim Morrison, who was deputy editor of the Evening News, has launched Elevator, which aims to offer high definition video recording and editing for short video packages.

Morrison will take on the role of sales and marketing director, while McNeil will act as production editor for the company.

Morrison explained that independent research had shown an increasing demand for web video packages. “A video on a website grabs and holds the attention of visitors like no other medium. Independent research shows that visitors who are given the opportunity to view video will stay on a site for an average of two minutes longer and are 82.6 per cent more likely to buy.”

He concluded that online was now the ‘primary vehicle’ for companies to promote their good and services, and that Elevator would aim to help companies reach audiences without the cost of TV advertising.
