Budget: PRCA say new rulings will boost PR and digital agencies

The Public Relations Consultants Association have welcomed today's budget rulings which it says will help UK PR and digital agencies.

Richard Ellis, communications director of the PRCA told the Drum: “The cut in corporation tax is a welcome step towards making the UK more competitive and ensuring it remains the global hub for PR."

Ellis also said the budget would be welcomed by small agencies. He said: "While the PR giants are crucial to the UK’s reputation, they should not overshadow the vibrancy and innovation that the plethora of small agencies that make the UK PR culture so strong and diverse. The freeze on regulation and the suspension of rate relief will be welcome news to these agencies and help stimulate this sector."

He added: “Taken together with the recent Cabinet Office review by Matt Tee recommending that the Government’s default option for marketing spend should be digital and PR rather than advertising, the industry should look forward to 2011 with cautious optimism.“
