Wynsors World of Shoes has worked with One iota to create its first fully-transactional mobile and Facebook stores.

The retailer said it commissioned One iota after seeing a "steep rise" in mobile visitors to its Wynsors website. It briefed the Lancashire-based agency to design, build and host its mobile shop.

The shop has been designed to work across all handset types but an "advanced version" has been created for high-end smartphones such as Android and iPhone devices.

This optimised version includes "application-like" features such as collapsible menus, picture navigation and interactive promotional pages. Wynsors' transactional Facebook store will follow "shortly".

Mark Chalmers, finance director of Wynsors, said: “It‘s important to ensure our customers can buy from us whenever and wherever they like – our mobile shop enables them to do just that."

Wynsors, which has 45 stores, is moving into a mobile retail market that analysts are predicting will boom in the coming years.

ABI Research claims mobile commerce will develop into a £75bn market by 2015. Meanwhile brands such as JC Penney, French Connection and ASOS are to start selling their wares on Facebook.
