Play.com has contacted its customers to let them know that their details may have been leaked followed a ‘security breach’ by its marketing agency.

A email has been sent by the company to its customers to let them know that some of their customers names and email addresses ‘may have been compromised’ as a result of a ‘security breach’ by its marketing agency.

“We take privacy and security very seriously and ensure all sensitive customer data is protected. Please be assured this issue has occurred outside of Play.com and no other personal customer information has been involved,” explained the email from the customer services team, which added that the company had ‘taken every step’ to avoid the incident happening again.

Apparently credit card and bank details have not been stolen however.

The company also warned customers to be vigilant of their email and personal information, and said that any links within a suspicious email should not be clicked.
