Twittering in Tongues, a recently published report, has identified the top ten corporate tweeters in foreign languages after conducting a survey of 225 global companies.

The report found that only a third of these sent foreign language Twitter feeds, despite half of all tweets being written in a language other than English.

Of those that did it found that Sony was the most successful, closely followed by Microsoft. The only British firm to make the grade, PricewaterhouseCoopers, was ranked fourth.

Christian Arno, founder of the translation firm Lingo24 said: “Compared to the likes of Sony, Microsoft, MTV and Air France British companies have been ponderously slow to tweet in foreign tongues.

“But the reality is that if a company has operations beyond the Channel, they need to run multiple Twitter accounts.

Top Ten Tweeters in Tongues:

1. Sony

2. Microsoft

3. Cisco Systems

4. PricewaterhouseCoopers

5. Air France
