Government looks to woo WPP back to UK
In a bid to convince WPP to return to the UK, Chanecellor George Osbourne will implement tax policy changes.
Osbourne is set to promise a recution in taxes on company profits collected overseas in a bid to win back Martin Sorrell’s advertising company, says The Daily Telegraph.
WPP moved its headquarters to Ireland in 2008 to the previous government’s increase on taxes for overseas profits.
It is reported that the plan is to unveil the return of a large British company at the same time as making the announcement, although it is unlikely that WPP will follow suit despite Sorrell’s claim last year that he would be willing to reconsider should changes be made to the tax system.
