Murdoch's iPad newspaper to launch in UK soon
Rupert Murdoch’s iPad newspaper is to be available in the UK within months.
The Daily will be available via iTunes depending on when Apple's new online subscription model becomes available; several publishers being aggrieved with Apple’s plans to charge them 30% of subscription fees for all iPad apps sold.
Speaking to the Abu Dhabi Media Summit, News Corporation’s chief digital officer Jon Miller said The Daily would be available in Western Europe “not too long from now”, before confirming that this would be in the first half of the year.
Miller continued to say that The Daily, currently available on a free trial, will face its “moment of truth” next week when it begins to charge in the US. The price of the newspaper has been set as 99 cents a week or $39.99 a year.
