Tesco officially unveils new Facebook page

Tesco has joined the social media generation with the launch of its official Facebook page, a portal which the grocery giant believes will allow the firm to handle customer relations and offer shoppers exclusive deals.

Created by Harvest Digital the microsite will play host to content from all of Tesco’s online estates, including tesco.com and tescorealfood.com.

Tesco see’s the online foray as a means to speak directly to consumers, positioning its brand more firmly in the public consciousness through debate and customer relations tabs.

Some 5,585 Facebooker’s have so far “liked” the initiative, although many more users of the networking site have got behindthe firms three other pages for clothing, greener living and beauty.

Many unofficial tributes (and protests) also predominate on the site.
