A Manchester United fans car bumper sticker has fallen within the grasp of the long arm of the law after officers deemed its message to be “offensive”.

Sarah Webb-Lee affixed the contentious sticker, emblazoned with the refrain “On the first day God created United then completely f*cked up and created City,” to her car “for a laugh.”

Greater Manchester Police and neighbours were left unamused by the stunt however, urging the sticker’s removal on the grounds of public order legislation. Webb-Lee refused but later agreed to drop a strategic letter.

Complaining bitterly at her treatment Webb-Lee, whose husband is a City fan, said: "It's my car and I'll decorate it how I like. It's free speech and I should be allowed to say what I want."
