Asda has moved its £12m regional media account out of Leeds-based agency Brilliant and into Carat.

The news is a major blow to Brilliant which is currently waiting the outcome of a review by its largest account DFS.

Worth a total of £87m, the account which is handled by MediaCom as well as Brilliant, is largely expected to go into a London agency.

As a result there has been speculation about the future of Brilliant although chief executive Steve Lane told Campaign, “I can confirm that Brilliant Media Group is not in administration and is indeed solvent.”

The Asda move means they have now consolidated their entire account into Carat which is thought to be worth around £100m.
