AOL sews up the Huffpo deal: group claims 253 million users worldwide

The Huffington Post deal despite its many critics is powering AOL ahead into the global big time with today's clincher

AOL will integrate Huffpo with all AOL Media and AOL local properties to create the Huffington Post Media Group. The group it is claimed will have a user base of 117 million unique visitors a month in the United States and 253 million around the world

HPMG aspires to be "a leading source of news, opinion, entertainment, community, and digital information." Huffington herself is in charge as President and Editor-in-Chief.

AOL is said to be "accelerating its strategy to deliver a scaled and differentiated array of premium news, analysis, and entertainment produced by thousands of writers, editors, reporters, and videographers around the globe."
